Food for thought?

The River Plant Aquarium blogged at eOffice in August to show a new twist on a concept to build locally-based and self-reliant food economies.  It featured designer Mathieu Lehammer‘s plant aquarium which takes inspiration from the natural ecosystem found in rivers using hydroponics and a refrigerated aquarium as a hatchery for freshwater fish!

Meanwhile vegetables grow in glass pods above using the water from the fish tank for sustenance whilst filtering and purifying the water for the fish below.

Something for your next office installation?  Probably a step too far for most clients...
